The sixth graders in 21st Century Skills are getting a crash course on internet safety. This month Mr. Kimzey’s classes will be learning the pros and cons to having internet access as a student. On Friday, February 19th Jacqueline Coggins will be visiting Mr. Kimzey’s classroom for a NetSmartz Internet Safety presentation workshop. The goal of the NetSmartz workshop is to extend the safety awareness of children to prevent victimization and increase self-confidence whenever they go online. “Our students will be using www.netsmartz.org this month for several projects. “We are going to make informational posters about what we are learning in class,” said Mr. Kimzey. Along with the posters, students will watch informational videos, review current statistics, and learn about the various issues students face having access to the internet. 21st Century Skills has been the title of middle school classes in the past. This year the students are learning about internet basics and safety, digital photography and video, as well as using various Web 2.0 tools.
